Immediately after the central station of Bern is left to the east towards Biel, Zurich,
Lucerne and to the Lötschberg, the quadruple tracked line crosses at first the
"Bollwerk" plaza (above) and then the deep Aare valley (below). |

Immediately in the south of the Olten railway station, the line to Solothurn crosses the
Aare in a westward direction. The 2nd bridge with a graceful railing, which can be seen
behind the box bridge, represents a foot bridge. |

Brugg in the canton Aargau is a crossing point of the railway lines from Basel to Zürich
and from Koblenz near the "Hochrhein" to Olten via Aarau. The first mentioned line crosses
the Aare at Brugg a few kilometers in the West of the railway station. The steel bridge
which is shown at the present scenario no longer exists today (2007). It was replaced by a
concrete bridge in the meantime.
A few kilometers to the east, the Reuss flows into the Aaare. There, exactly in the north
of Gebensdorf, the Reuss is crossed from the railway line to Zurich. The present photo
was made from the North. In the background, the church of Gebensdorf sticks out.
