Impressions from Nuremberg and Fuerth

It was a very nice spring day in May 2003 as I was invited to Nuremberg for a bicycle tour, which should lead to some distinctive railway points from Nuremberg and Fuerth. Below, you find some impressions from this tour and some BahnLand scenarios, which I have prepared on the basis of these photos.

This picture shows the crossing of the westside exit line from the Nuremberg freight station with the main line to Ingolstadt-Munich, with the silhouette of Nuremberg as background. The crossing building in the foreground, which was prepared as track line for the BahnLand program, is a part of the connection curve, where trains coming from south may directly turn to Fuerth.
Main-Danube waterway bridge across the Rednitz valley
When I made the photo above, I had behind me the Main-Danube waterway, which crosses the Rednitz valley some kilometers in north-west direction from this location with a monumental bridge.

At the location shown at the little picture on the righthand side, one can really say: I am "underwater".

Somewhat northwards from the Main-Danube waterway bridge, the Rednitz is crossed from the "Siebenbogenbrücke" (bridge of seven arches), which follows in west direction immediately the main station of Fuerth. At the westside of the bridge, the railway lines diverge to Frankfurt (straight forward main line), to Berlin (main line turning right to north direction) and to Zirndorf (local line turning left to south direction).

The railway control center building at the leftside photo is located between the main station of Fuerth and the "Siebenbogenbrücke", where the other photos were made.

Running from Fuerth main station to Nuremberg, the metro comes to the daylight at the city borderline and crosses the "Franken-Schnellweg" together with the "Nürnberger" or "Fürther Straße" (designation changes when passing the city borderline) and the railway line between the main stations of Nuremberg and Fuerth (the latter one is not visible because it passes behind the photographer).

At last, see here some impressions from the railway depot "Nuremberg main station", which is located besides the main line to Fuerth.

Within the roundhouse and at the outside area I had still photographed the prototype E10, the E18 and E19 as well as the replica of the "Pfalz" in 1971.
