The Wutach Valley line leaves the railway line Immendingen-Donaueschingen at
Hintschingen and leads to Waldshut in the Rhine valley near Switzerland, using an
impressive line arrangement. Because of its unique spiral-tunnel in Germany, it is
also called the "Piggy's Tail Railway". The passenger traffic at the medium part
between Zollhaus-Blumberg and Weizen was already skipped in the 1950th. Since 1977,
the line was reactivated as a private museum railway.
The following landscapes for the program BahnLand show the valley crossing at
Epfenhofen from different views. This viaduct has a height of 34m and crosses the
whole village about a length of 264m. When I visited this line at October 25, 2003,
some snow was already fallen. And there was a lot of fog, so that I was not able to
get a utilizable photo from the second very interesting viaduct, the Biesenbach
viaduct above Epfenhofen.
